Restaurant Brand & Operations Consulting

Services

Dr. Restaurant provides nine integrated consulting services, each with agreed deliverables set out in writing before work begins. Services can be engaged individually, combined into a staged program for an opening or a turnaround, or retained on an ongoing advisory basis. Every engagement starts the same way: diagnosis before prescription.

Before any logo or visual identity work begins, we run a Brand Logo Direction Workshop with the client — positioning first, then logo type, brand personality, core elements and colour direction, agreed and signed off before design starts.

01Business Strategy & Brand Positioning

We turn "the kind of restaurant I want to open" into an executable strategy: market and competitor research, audience analysis, brand differentiation, format and service model, revenue and cost assumptions, product architecture and a development roadmap.

Deliverables: brand positioning proposal, business model recommendations, competitor comparison, staged execution plan.

02Site Evaluation & Opening Planning

Each candidate site is reviewed through a restaurant operator's lens — trade area, visibility, access, seating capacity, front- and back-of-house flow and equipment — and coordinated with real estate, design and construction partners, so location risk is priced in before you commit.

Deliverables: site-fit comparison, operations flow recommendations, opening work checklist, key risk summary.

03Licensing, Health & Opening Compliance

We organize what your opening actually requires: business licence, health permit and liquor licence requirements; menu and equipment documentation; food safety and sanitation plans; deficiency follow-up with the authorities; and inspection preparation, working alongside your architect, engineer and contractor.

Deliverables: application document checklists, organized filing packages, deficiency tracking, pre-opening readiness checklist. Government approvals remain the authorities' decision.

04Brand Identity & In-Store Design Applications

Brand story and naming direction, logo, colour, typography and graphic systems — then carried through menus, packaging, uniforms, signage, in-store graphics and social templates, so the brand shows the same face at every touchpoint.

Deliverables: brand identity system, VI guidelines, agreed design files.

05Menu Engineering & Operations Improvement

Pricing and product-role analysis to restructure the menu; set menus and add-on design; hero-product definition; prep and kitchen workflow; SOPs and service flow; and a small set of operating metrics reviewed on a rhythm — so good food also produces good margin.

Deliverables: menu adjustment recommendations, product-role analysis, process improvement plan, operations tracking metrics.

06Trademark Strategy & Brand Protection Coordination

Filing direction for word and design marks, class selection and expansion-coverage assessment, preliminary search coordination, document preparation and liaison with qualified trademark professionals — so the brand is protected before it scales, not after a dispute.

Deliverables: trademark layout recommendations, prepared filing materials, application coordination and progress tracking.

07Marketing & Social Content

Opening campaigns, new-product launches, social posts and short video built on real store and dish footage — planned to convert attention into store visits and repeat business, with media, creator and platform partnerships coordinated as needed.

Deliverables: campaign themes, event plans, content calendars, agreed creative assets.

08Expansion & Cross-Market Development

A readiness review before you multiply: unit economics, product consistency, team capacity and standardization; multi-store consistency systems, core-product standards, central kitchen and supply-chain direction; and the commercial groundwork for franchising or brand licensing.

Deliverables: expansion readiness assessment, standardization priority list, market-entry roadmap.

09Government Food-Service Tender Tracking & Matching

Our team continuously tracks food-service operating opportunities released by governments and public venues across Canada — recreation centres, institutions, airports, museums and arenas — and helps interested clients assess fit, prepare, and connect with the right opportunities. Current listings are published in Chinese on the main site; use the tender assessment form on our contact page to ask about a specific opportunity.

Deliverables: opportunity screening, per-tender assessment, bid-direction advisory and matching.

Who we work with

How we work

  1. Understand your goals and diagnose the current situation
  2. Research and validate the direction
  3. Confirm scope and deliverables
  4. Execute in stages
  5. Track results and adjust

Success measures are set by project type: new openings are judged on positioning clarity, preparation milestones and opening readiness; operating stores on product margin, average cheque, kitchen throughput and waste; expanding brands on standardization and the new store's ability to run without the founder.
